Outpost – a settlement far from anywhere

Extraneous – not necessary or essential

Recluse – a person who lives alone

Desolate – deserted or empty

Basis – the essential part on which something rests or depends

Adjoin – to be next to

Manor – the main house on a large piece of land or estate

Relegate – to send or remove to a less important place

Extremist – a person whose views go beyond what is usual

Dwell – to live; to reside

Extremity – the outermost or farthest  points; the very ends

Claustrophobia – the fear of being in small or enclosed spaces

Extrinsic – not related

Conjunction – the act or state of joining or coming together; a combination

Preclude – makes impossible; prevents

Cloister – to shut away from others

Seclusion – the act of keeping apart or removed from others; solitude

Juncture – the place where two or more things come together or join

Disjoined – lacking order

External – relating to or being outside

Proximity - closeness

Chasm – a deep crack or gap in the earth’s surface; a canyon; a gorge

Exile – the removal of a person from his or her native country or home

Confinement – the state of being shut up or restricted to a certain place

Remote – far away

Abode – the   place where one lives; a home

Edifice – a building, especially one that is large

Compartment – a division, section, or part of a space

Juxtaposition – close or side-by-side positioning

Metropolis – a large major city
