1. Topic Sentence (specific Subject + a specific feeling, attitude or idea about it)

       Ex.  Over the past several months of eighth grade, I have grown tremendously as a reader.

2. Detail Sentences    Talk about specific traits:  strong ones, areas of  

    improvement (8-10).  Use specific examples as evidence.  Be specific!

   Book Log/Talks/Stickers (number of books, types, pages, Reader’s Hall of Fame?)

Vocabulary (class sets - Weekly  practice (word & definintion, synonyms/antonyms, sentences, pictures/actions) & own words from novels)

Reading activities (Coop. Comp., Dictated Writing, Graphic Organizers, packets, ITBS/Stanford Diagnostic Test, and grade sheets)

3. Clincher Sentence (wrap-up/summary of you as a reader)

       Ex.  So overall as a reader, I have made a lot of progress with free reading,     but I still need to work on classroom reading and understanding what I      read.
