Prewriting P.  10 Worksheet:  Brainstroming itmes/products you use on a normal day.
 
 
Use the "FOOD" category to select top 4 favorite foods:  (carrots, water were examples).

1.  P. 11 Identifying Reasons Worksheet.  Fill in sheet for each food item.
 
Product          Reasons for Liking it          Reasons for Not Liking it
 
Reasons are opinion and factual.

 
 
 
 
 
 
2.  Two class periods researching in computer lab.  Use this sites "Resourses" from the navigation bar to find search engines and OSLIS Citation Maker.
 
YOU WILL NEED AT LEAST THREE DEFENSIBLE ARGUEMENTS!
 
Google & Yahoo Search :  "benefits"+"your food"
 
OSLIS:  plots the necessary bibliography information.  Use professional and personal website formats.
 
Word Document:  copy and paste OSLIS information to a document.  Alphabetize and indent all but the first line of each source.
 
Use Index cards: 
          Front - source information (same as oslis information)
      
          Back/lined side - paraphrased noted from that source.

 
 
 
 
3.  Rough Drafts of information.  Worksheets Pp.16-21.  Follow the rubric!!
 
Beginning - attract reader's attention, introduce your food item, and state your opinion about it with the areas to be covered (thesis).
 
Middle - Each middle paragraph should present a main reason for your opinion plus show researched support.
 
Conclusion - should restate your thesis about the food item and make  a call to action. Remember the call to action tells the reader what you want them to do - in this case you are recommending a food item.
